Trauma/PTSD
The world that surrounds us can be merciless. There are so many acts that leave their mark on each of us – identity theft, assault, combat, traumatic childbirth, traffic collision, natural disasters, and many more. These may haunt and taunt us and seriously interfere with our lives. For years I have focused on successfully treating trauma and all the strongly related issues such as anxiety, grief/loss, depression, addiction, etc.  Open the way to enduring relief from the effects of trauma of all kinds. Also specializing also in parts work for dissociation.
Bereavement/Loss
A loved one dies. You’ve lost an object essential to you. A pet has cancer. Breaking up. Losing a friendship. Divorce. Bereavement by definition: the experience of losing someone or something important to us. It’s characterized by a process and range of emotions that human beings go through multiple times, such as sadness, anger, denial, bargaining, despair, confusion, and, finally, acceptance. Something has ended and you are likely to react in ways that will surprise you. Find hope in healing your heart - healing time for self-preservation.
Addiction
Addiction can take many forms – substance use, food, sex, gambling, work, etc. – whichever one(s) you may be wrestling with you know that it feels out of control, overwhelming, and have devastating impact on multiple areas of your life. There are many excellent treatment models (detox, residential, IOP, etc.). I have broad experience in addiction treatment and can help assess which model is appropriate for you, furnish referrals, and provide treatment for the individual care component of addiction recovery. PROBLEM GAMBLING/GAMING Research notes a mixture of genetics, medical issues, and influence from society, family or friends as likely causes. Whatever the cause problem, gambling creates serious negative impact to finances, jobs, and relationships – the fun has stopped. Problem gaming although a different issue can sneak in and disrupt lives just as thoroughly as problem gambling. I am trained in the treatment of both issues – break the cyclical suffering – give me a call.
EMDR/Brainspotting
Clients treated with either EMDR or Brainspotting experience significant healing of post-traumatic symptoms. If you are unfamiliar with Brainspotting it is a powerful treatment technique which has its roots in EMDR that allows people to quickly and completely heal from trauma and provides faster recovery. I have successfully treated clients and military personnel using EMDR for 20 years and with Brainspotting for 16 years.
Chronic Pain
Chronic pain is estimated to affect 70 to 80% of adults at any time. It is associated with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, unemployment, marital breakdown, and serious injury. Mental health struggles can co-exist with pain issues. In my experience, chronic pain can be best eased by use of a multi-disciplinary approach including psychological treatment; ie., medical, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, massage, and EMDR. With a client’s permission collaboration with a medical professional would be ideal and provide maximum benefit for the client.
